FRIENDS OF RICH: THE FINAL DRIVE BUILD THE FIELDHOUSE

The Final Drive: 250K in 100 Days!

OUR GOAL$16,000$250,000

(updated as of 5/24/21)

We are in the final drive of completing the fieldhouse dedicated to our friend, mentor, teacher, and coach Rich Lichtel. As his friends, we know Rich always went above and beyond to make everyone feel like they were important. He was funny, caring, and always made sure everyone was being taken care of. The hope for this field house is to continue on the legacy of a man who touched so many people…

“to know Rich is to love Rich.” It was never just about football. It was about including everyone and making people feel like they were a part of a team to Rich.

Eleven years ago, this project started as the Rich Lichtel fund. If you were a friend of Rich or knew the impact he had, we are calling you to act fast and give. We need your help to bring this fieldhouse to completion in Rich’s honor. Partner with us today, as one of his friends, students, or mentees and give your support. We are looking to raise the last $250,000 needed to fund this project in the final 100 days. The last 100 friends who give or pledge at least $1,000 will be recognized on a custom plaque to be housed within the new fieldhouse. If you own a business and are interested in becoming a corporate sponsor, please contact Gregg Sheibley at 717.712.7255 for more information and details.

The Rich Lichtel Fund

The Rich Lichtel Fund was established in the fall of 2007 to honor a man who had meant so much, to so many.

As an educator and head football coach at Mechanicsburg High School for over 25 years, Rich Lichtel positively impacted the lives of thousands of students. Rich exhibited a unique passion and love of life both on the football field and in the classroom. His heroics as the quarterback for the Bloomsburg Huskies and sideline orchestration of the Wildcats’ high-powered offense are legendary. As an individual, Rich affected the lives of so many in his own special way.

The Fund was created as a way to allow Rich’s compassion, kindness, and a tremendously big heart to live on in the wake of his untimely passing in September of 2007. The Fund’s mission is simply this — To strengthen the foundation of our community by investing in our youth. The Rich Lichtel Fund is actively seeking to assist athletic, educational, and scholastic initiatives in the Harrisburg area that will have a positive impact on a group, organization, or the community. Please contact the Fund if you know of such an organization.
